Electric Capital is a top early-stage venture firm investing in crypto and other frontier technologies. The Finance team manages all aspects of our fund operations while developing new processes to meet the demands of working in a dynamic, fast-changing financial and regulatory environment.
As a Finance Manager at Electric Capital, you will gain broad exposure to nascent technologies and build the skills necessary to succeed in the emerging crypto sector. You will work directly with Electric’s co-founders, controllers, and other senior management to deliver tax, fund reporting, audits, and other operational processes. You will play a critical role in supporting finance-related projects and advancing firm-wide objectives. You will also participate in Electric’s efforts to build new AI technologies to optimize our operations.
Responsibilities:
Tax:
- Manage the entire tax compliance lifecycle for the Funds, GPs, and Management Company.
- Review all tax documents prepared by tax advisors, including tax returns, K-1s,and foreign filings.
- Review the calculation for estimated taxes and facilitate payments.
- Conduct tax code research and collaborate with tax advisors on strategic tax planning for the Funds, GPs, and Management Company.
- Serve as the primary contact for managing tax advisors; perform independent research to validate the tax positions and advice provided.
- Respond to tax-related requests and inquiries from investors.
- Lead ad-hoc tax research projects to inform key decision-making.
Finance:
- Perform detailed review of the financial reports prepared by the fund administrator; produce quarterly NAV reports.
- Support the preparation and review of annual financial statements, working directly with auditors.
- Monitor and track fund performance and investments, including regular valuation updates.
- Participate in fund and firm operations, including accounts payable management, capital calls, and distributions.
- Address finance related inquiries from investors.
- Assist in ad-hoc analysis and strategic projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax or related field.
- 6+ years of asset management tax experience, with at least 4 years in VC/PE tax.
- CPA or equivalent credential required.
- Tax research and tax planning experience required.
- Flexible, collaborative, and proactive with a self-starter mindset; able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent skills in Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Tax advisory experience preferred.
- Passion for crypto, tech and/or AI is a big plus.
- Based in San Francisco or New York and willing to come into the office 2 days a week.
