Emily is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Electric Capital. She is also an expert and advises the firm and its portfolio companies on legal matters ranging from regulatory strategy and compliance to fundraising, governance, and risk mitigation.
Emily is a legal executive, compliance expert, and trusted advisor with nearly 20 years of experience helping high-growth companies operate with clarity, accountability, and strategic discipline. Prior to joining Electric, Emily was Deputy General Counsel at Paxos, one of the most advanced blockchain infrastructure firms in the U.S., where she helped lead legal strategy during a period of rapid regulatory engagement and product expansion. Before Paxos, Emily was Associate General Counsel and Global Head of Compliance & Ethics at WeWork, where she built the company's global compliance function from the ground up—hiring and leading a team across four continents and launching programs in data privacy, anti-corruption, internal investigations, and regulatory risk.
Earlier in her career, Emily served as an enforcement attorney at the Federal Election Commission, where she oversaw complex investigations and negotiated settlements with political organizations and candidates, and as a senior associate at WilmerHale LLP, where she represented clients in high-stakes litigation, securities enforcement, and crisis management during the 2008 financial crisis. Emily's background spans public service, Big Law, and in-house roles at high-growth startups—giving her a unique perspective on how to navigate risk while enabling innovation. She has helped organizations scale globally, comply with evolving regulations, and avoid costly missteps during critical moments of growth and transformation. Emily earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Brown University, and her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.
